ah, i miss colored artworks; i'm currently neck-deep in black and white work that's taking up most of my time (and i mean MOST of my time) lately. no matter, i'll just be saving up all my coloring energies for this artwork i have in mind...
anyway, here's ara, a redesign of an old character (using my don't-think-just-design jutsu). her background story's still the same, except this time, it's not all colorful anime and high saturation colors. hopefully that gives her character a different mood from the previous one: this and this.
originally titled "the superfluous anecdotes of a post-apocalyptic third-world teenage drama queen", but DA's grouchy when it comes to long-ass titles.
additional notes (since i seem to get a lot of questions about this): she carries a scabbard that holds two weapons--a knife and a big-ass sword. the scabbard has luggage wheels at the bottom so it doesn't scrape the floor when she does quick attacks. the plugs tied to the end of her sword's handle are vintage keychains. vintage because ara's story takes place in a world where wires and plugs are no longer in use. there.
done a couple months ago on pscs2, with a wacom intuos 3, 8 hours, give or take.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
